Can I use a PC tower (case) as a hard drive enclosure for internal hard drives.?

I dont have a motherboard and dont want one, but I have an empty case. What would I need?Can I use a PC tower (case) as a hard drive enclosure for internal hard drives.?
You could definitely do this. All you need to do is have a power supply and some fans in the case. You could then put in all the internal drives. From here, you have a few options. You could simply run long SATA or IDE cables (depending on the hard drives) from the back of the hard drive enclosure case to the back of the computer you want to connect them to. You could connect them via a PCI SATA or IDE expansion slot. Alternatively, you could buy a lot of SATA to USB adapters, run the USB cords out of the back of the hard drive enclosure case, and just plug them into the USB ports on the main computer.Can I use a PC tower (case) as a hard drive enclosure for internal hard drives.?

You can drill holes in the case, to put in new fans. Anything will fit, as long you put it in there right.

if you can get the motherboard out intact with everything on it and hard drives dangling from one case to another and put it straight in then you are a better man than me.
u will have to replace the whole lot motherboard, PCI cards Graphics card, Hard Drive, DVD Rom, only would do if your experienced, as you can damage your PC, and may never get working again, also i would check the power supply, and the power rating, wud get someone who knows how to do this already, it will take a few hours to do and thats if no problems when powering up, operating system should be ok though.
I don't see how you can change a case without disconnecting everything!





If you're not sure where to reconnect things, you could take some pics, or mark the cables with tags of some sort.

Remove any power cables connected to your mb for case fans


I would disconnect, the PSU and drive cables


I would remove any Graphics or sound cards tv cards e.c.t





I would sugest you dont disconnect the Heatsink and fan or ram cards on your motherboard just leave them in place, that is assuming your PC is not water cooled.





There will be wires that comes your case to your mb for the on/off button led lights e.c.t. these vary alittle from case to case - you really have to know what you are doing, but a photo of them before you disconnect them will give you an idea.





Put the motherboard in the new case first, ensuring you dont touch of the pins in the back of the motherboard - always ground yourself before touching any eltrical components in a PC. The best way to handle the MB is hold it by the rim.





Then move over the other components peice by peice

fans


graphics cards


sound card


tv card


PSU





take your time and if you are not sure take photos of where the wires gofor your reference
always disconect everything
it will be easier to disconnect everything first just put labels on evry part so it will be easier to put it back. :)
It will be easier to disconnect at least some of the parts. If your worried about reconnecting them correctly use a colour code system or tags or labels to make sure you get them in the right place. Take a picture of the lay out of your computer now and print it out to help you.


Remember you should earth yourself to avoid damaging any static sensitive parts.

YES it will fit in the case, but the power supply fill FRY the second you start a game. because it uses about 260 watts on its own. so look into a case similar to this, but with no power supply, i would recommend at least 800 wattsWill this fit in my pc case?
yes, my friend has that exact case, it is very durable , sturdy and the included power supply is great. Also there is a tonne of interior room. I'm glad i could help xD

They all have some kind of material malfunction. Their side panels are strangely transparent, not opaque.

I would recommend an aluminum case.
Uhm I wouldn't go with any of those, but since your just focused on looks, I suppose the first one.

Custom PC Case Power Switch?

Im startinga project of building my own PC. and i need a power button that would do the immediate start up, and the need to hold the button in order to shut it off (this usually is basic with all PC's).
