Is this Antec PC Case + PSU compatible with my Intel I5 Motherboard bundle?

Hi

I'm buying this intel i5 bundle:

http://www.cclonline.com/product-info.asp?product_id=34886%26amp;tid=frooct

And am wondering if it's compatible with this case and PSU:

http://www.lambda-tek.com/componentshop/index.pl?prodID=B208523

Also, what hard disk (250gb+) and optical drive would you recommend to buy that would be compatible with all the above parts.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

:)Is this Antec PC Case + PSU compatible with my Intel I5 Motherboard bundle?
if you are doing serious gaming you are going to need more than the 380 w psu

you might want to try this barebones:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/鈥?/a>

I have one and it is compatible with core 2 quad processors which are very fast and it comes with mobo and 650 w psu and since it is a coolermaster it provides great airflow to keep components cool under heavy use

you might want to try this cpu:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/

its extremely fast

also any SATA harddrive and any SATA optical drive would be compatible. Is this Antec PC Case + PSU compatible with my Intel I5 Motherboard bundle?
It would appear that it is compatible from the specs given by the site...I think that you might want to get two 250 Western Digitals so you could Raid them to double your speed...I doubt you got the i5 for web surfing...but you will need to up-grade your power supply and possibly your cooling fans when you drop in the 4870...

I Need A PC Case with Good Cable Management Options & Plenty of Space Inside?

Hi

Im currently looking for an ATX form factor Desktop case with these main points:

1) Has to have a side window.

2) Good Cable Management Options.

3) Plenty of space inside for upgrading and hard drives etc.

I have yet to find a case with ALL 3 of these things, i did like the Antec nine hundred but the cable management is not to be seen and as for the dust that case gathers is another story lol.

Can anyone suggest a case with these 3 things?I Need A PC Case with Good Cable Management Options %26amp; Plenty of Space Inside?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as鈥?/a>

Greatest case I have ever owned - awesome side window, the built-in fans (there are four plus a lower vent, and they all have dust screens!) have blue LEDs built in. Cable management is amazing in this case, and there's a whole separate section for easy slide-in and slide-out of up to six hard drives (comes with the little runners that snap onto and off of the sides of the hard drive so they will slide into the case). You can't get a better case than this for cooling, large size, and awesome cable and hard disk management!

Help with this pc case?

My friend wants me to build him a pc, so i asked him if he had cash, he said yeah but hes got a 1k budget though, so i said ok and pulled up buy.om, searched for a motherboard that fits his needs (hes not really smart with computers so he dont need much..), then after that i explained to him what it had and such, and he said that it sounded good, then i asked him what he was going to use it for, he just said games, so i put the minimum i could in it to save him cash (3 gigs of ram, 2.3 ghz core i7(the lowest one there), a 200 gig HDD, ect. so then after everything was picked, the case was last, so he looked for about an hour and found this cheap, but futuristic one, so i looked at its size, and the motherboards size, its big enough in the dimensions, but it says its a ATX case and the motherboards form factor is EATX. This is the case (GMC GMCX7BL X-7 X-Station Middle Tower ATX Case - Black - azt-gmcx7-bl) take it and type it in buy.com's search(putting a link isnt working..). So i need to know, will it work? if not is there a case just like it but fitted for EATX boards? i dont want to have to tell him he cant get that case because he really wants that one. So if it will fit tell me. If it wont tell me if theres one like it but to its fitting. And if both are a no then tell me what case will support it.

ThankyouHelp with this pc case?
the case your friend has chosen is big enough by far for an EATX motherboard. the difference in size of motherboards is this

ATX: length 12';, depth 9.6';

EATX: length 12';, depth 10.4';

the length is standardized to 12'; (this means 7 extension slots) and the difference of 0.8'; in depth is absolutely no problem. my case has the same size and there are tons of space in that direction.

the only concern could be the distance between the mounting holes. i don't know if these are the same for ATX and EATX but if this case is fairly new it should also support EATX mobos.

Cheap Cool Looking Pc Case?

Ok so im away to build a new gaming pc and i want a cool looking case but as i have a limited budget i only have about 30 quid to spend i already have a 拢50 PSU (OCZ 500w) so i will not a PSU although if it comes with one i can always take it out. I would like it to have ok cool cause i know at 拢30 it isnt going to be great however i am willing to install LEDs and fans.

Also im ordering all my components from ebuyer.com so if you could find one there it would be a plus although i dont really mind buying from else where.

Crackling sound from pc casing with dimming lights?

I'm using Acer Aspire T180 with AMD Athlon 64 X2, Nvidia Geforce 8600GT, 2 Sata HDD, a DVDRW and Cooler Master 500W. My problem is that I'm hearing an intermittent crackling sound from the the casing accompanied with the dimming of the power lights (at the wall power point). This happens even before Windows is loaded so I know that it's not the hard disk. What could be the problem?

I have only recently installed the Cooler Master 500W after suspecting that the standard 250W PSU that came with the T180 was insufficient to power the 8600GT and 2 SATA HDD. Prior to that, the computer would randomly turn itself off without warning. This no longer happens but now there's the crackling sound. The PC works ok but I'm worried that sound could mean something else.Crackling sound from pc casing with dimming lights?
Its nothing else but just like some wire or such else component that is stucking with some fan or other device. Just check it and it will be ok...Crackling sound from pc casing with dimming lights?
It most defanitly sounds like a Power Supply issue. If you can, take it back (or send) to the store and get a replacement of the same unit and see if does the same thing.

Looking for a pc case for acer sk20?

Ive got better compyters, but its my first time getting a case.

so i thought id start with one of my old computers so that if i stuff it up i wont mind.

Im wondering if i can get an atx mid tower case.

the acer is an odd shape and is made to lay down with a screen sittign on top.

Theres a small picture of it here http://www.rad9.com/site/radn/images/items/Acer%20SK20.1.jpg

can i just transfer the parts or do i need something of the same shape to start with.Looking for a pc case for acer sk20?
It all depends on the form factor of the motherboard and the power supply. If it uses an ATX motherboard and power supply (the most common), then any standard case will do. If it uses something weird and proprietary, then you will probably have trouble.

Chances are good that the motherboard will work fine, you just may need to get a new power supply. All of the other components are standard and will work fine.

Portals Companion Cube PC Case....?

So I came up with this crazy idea: Why not make a PC case modeled after the weighted cube from Portals? And I really want to, but how possible is it? How much would it cost? Has any made there own custom case from scratch? Any suggestions on how to make this happen?

10 points to the first good answer I see.

Thanks.Portals Companion Cube PC Case....?
I'm pretty sure someone is already doing this somewhere. Case Modding is very popular.

Edit - Found something - http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?鈥?/a>

Edit - It's probably ok to make it in metal. If you have the skills to do work the metal correctly. Most of the really specialised cases I've seen have been wood, mdf, plastic or polystyrene (That was I think a lara croft figure mod) mainlu becasue those materials are easier to work then metal.

Problems installing PC Case?

I have an upgraded Emachines computer and I bought this PC Case

http://www.overstock.com/Electronics/Boa鈥?/a>

There is a lot of wiring. I got all of the components and fans hooked up, but for the front display there are:

(2) Single pin plugs for Display Light

(4) Double pin plugs; 1 for Reset, 1 for Power Switch, 2 for Hard Drive LED

How do I know where these are supposed to go on the mother board. The pins where they are supposed to go are indicated by numbers, not by abbreviated words? Also do the Double Pin plugs go up and down or parallel if you are looking at the board?Problems installing PC Case?
That information is in your motherboards manual. Determine the brand %26amp; model of your motherboard. Then update here or search the manufacturers support website.Problems installing PC Case?
The easiest way would be to find a manual for the motherboard. Since the board is OEM that might not be possible. Does the original case have 1 plug with all the wires? If so trace them to where they go.

BTX Formfactor PC Case?

I'm looking for a new case for my Dell Inspiron 530. After contacting Dell, they told me that my motherboard was a BTX. I have looked at a few pictures of BTX motherboards and they don't seem to be the same format as mine.

My motherboard is a Foxconn G33MO2:

http://xps-700.com/dell/img/121117022400鈥?/a>

The power supply is at the top of the case, below that is the back panel inputs and a fan, and at the bottom is the expansion slots.

Most BTX motherboards I have seen look like this:

http://img.tomshardware.com/us/2005/12/0鈥?/a>

As you can see both seem totally different... In the second one, the expansion slots are at the top, RAM slots at the bottom, and the processor on the opposite side to the back panel input...

Could you please tell me which is BTX, and what the form factor of the first motherboard (Foxconn) is.

Thanks for your help,

    Cheap PC Case (Australia)?

I'm building a new PC. I'm on a tight budget ($AU 900 max.), so I want to buy an inexpensive case, preferably ranging $70 - $150. Oh, and it's supposed to be ATX-size!

    I've already seen the:

    - iCute ($85+, with 450W PSU - least likely candidate)

    - NZXT Alpha Black ($89+) and Tempest Black ($140+) (both look great - top candidate)

    - Antec Sonata III (but is $200 - on the upside, comes with 500W PSU, on the downside, it has a door covering the DVD drive...).

Just wondering about any other better, quieter, possibly cheaper, cases than the ones mentioned above. I've heard of CoolerMaster, other Antec, WideTech, FoxConn - but I don't have the time to resaech all these cases...

Oh, and it has to at least look good. I'm sick of looking at my old, bland, generic PC case, and I want something exciting!

    ANY SUGGESTIONS?Cheap PC Case (Australia)?
For your budget i recommend the Coolermaster CM690 Best Cheapie Case and has alot of room and great airflow.

What PC case do you think would be a good idea?

Now, I'm trying to build my own FIRST custom pc and already went over my ideal budget of 800.00. I DO have a case of a mid atx. Ultra one that I got for free after rebate. I've been using it as a foot rest and while it's in mint condition if you ignore a few slight scratches on the top. I found it boring looking, and it's a deep blue which I couldn't care for at all.

here's two from the same company that I like:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as鈥?/a>

    and

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as鈥?/a>

The first one I really prefer but the drawbacks is that I cannot install a card reader or a 2nd optical drive. I'm also afraid that my ideal main optical drive hd dvd/blu ray would get jammed due to the pistons. But I really like this design.

the other one..... I like the look, but i'm not fully feeling it. I like the bulldozer one, but the other is more practical.

There is also this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as鈥?/a>

But what do you think? overkill in size?

Help!!!!!!! Can't seem to make up my mind. What PC case do you think would be a good idea?
I would never, ever get any case which is rather ';too small';. The one i have right now, it doesn't leave room or ANYTHING and simple things like replacing a plug or a putting in a new card are a major hassle. I would really rather get the bigger one which would give you room for more expansions in the future. A tight case can cause major headaches, and airflow is usually worse also. What PC case do you think would be a good idea?
If you're going for a mid-tower ATX... go for it!

Why settle for a full-tower ATX when a mid-tower ATX would do the same job - and be smaller!

I tend to be a bit conservative with my tower cases so I am voting for the second one.

But damn, the Bulldozer looks wicked.

Which PC case is better, why?

Ill be getting a gtx 260 216 and a xfx force 780i mobo, will it fit in either.Which PC case is better, why?
The Compucase is a heap or junk mate so i would go with an Antec 900 or 1200.

But the other choice u have made is the case that i currenltly own and have had just over a year, the A+ Twin engine.

This case is a must as

A it has 2x250mm Fans and both have dust filters so the front one will be sucking in Cool air and behind it are where u mount ure hard drives so they will be happy with cool air flowing over them

and the side fan is great,it will blow cool air not only on the graphics card but the entire mobo as its that big.

Keep cable management well tied up and ure entire pc will be cool as helle.

both fans are neon blue lit as well as the front door that says A+clio at the top with is the HDD led.

both fans also have rpm speed switch so as the fans are so big they can shift loads of air at a slow speed to ure pc will be quiet.

The Antec 900 is also a superb case but has no dust filters, they remedied that on the 1200

but for me i would get the A+ Clio as its very will priced as i paid 拢70 when i got one.

The case is BIG and its HEAVY so as you can image the quality is good.

    Regards

  • Powerful PC Case Fans?

I need to know what brand/type of PC case fan would be best to buy for maximum airflow. Noise level is the least of my concern.Powerful PC Case Fans?
    For case fans, Antec Tricool:

    http://www.antec.com/Believe_it/product.鈥?/a>

I'd probably suggest the 120mm fan if you really want the maximum airflow. It has 3 speeds (low, med, high) so you can adjust on the fly how much cooling you want.Powerful PC Case Fans?
You have to be more specific because there are case fans, cpu fans, gpu fans and hdd fans etc. etc. etc. but anything over 5400 RPM should fit your need. I recommend buying ones with fan speed control so you can turn it up in the summer and down in the winter.

    Purchasing PC case questions?

Hi, I have a few questions and if you can answer most of them thoroughly, I'd be in your debt. My MB is Micro ATX btw.

    - Should I buy my case online or locally (shops)? Shops are usualyl $70+, but online has more specs, reviews, and when on sale is cheaper. Although shipping ruins it.

    - Is steel or aluminum better? Keep in mind, I'm a person who likes to a little bit of everything. First time builder as well.

    - Are the PSUs good or generic ? Some case brands ship generic ones and good ones, can you name the brands?

-What brands manufacture good PC cases?

    - Is AC 97 or Alezia better?

    - Are the case fans that come with the PC cases any good? Or should I buy aftermarket ones?

Thank you very much!Purchasing PC case questions?

i buy all my stuff at www.newegg.com

you just cant beat their prices.

aluminum is nice if you go to lan parties as it is nice and light. i have a steel case and it isnt too heavy.

it really depends on what case you buy. thermaltake, cooler master, antec, and mushkin are good psu's.

good pc cases would be the same(minus mushkin), but there are alot of decent cases out there. be sure to read several reviews on the case you like to see what other users think of it. if you are a gamer going to lan parties you will want to avoid a flimsy case.

i have found the stock case fans to be adequate in my coolermaster case. again, it really depends on the brand of case you buy.
    Check out this page http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLis鈥?/a>

These are all with free shipping. My rule about power supply is never get a case that comes with it. I broke this rule twice and I pay for a new power supply in less than two months. Antec ,roswill and thermaltake are good brands. I suggest steel case ,aluminum are a little flimsy. Read the pros and cons in user reviews to help you decide.
Check out microspectpc.com. You can find a variety of desktop computers with really nice cases. Also the prices are great.
Honestly, the case really don't do much. I buy a cheap case, and spend more money on other things----Like a Great Big Monitor, Graphics card---etc...Most of the ones I see with neon lights and colors----who cares----people want speed and power, and a screen you can see.
In-Win, Chenbro and Giga-Byte and Enlight all make good cases and have properly certified and tested power supplies. If fans are included (not all models have extra case fans) then they are designed to work as some of the clone mfrs use these cases right from the box to build with and no alterations.

Since these four make several different designs and sizes of cases, between them you should have lots to choose from. Giga-byte is also a decent MB maker which I've bought lots.

I buy locally and can work a deal with the supplier as i buy other goods as well like hard drives, dvd players etc and decent cpu fans.

So i'm in progress building my PC, the only parts that have arrived are the motherboard case, PSU, and CD/DVD?

It's really going to be hard to see if everything works until you try it altogether so just wait. it would try to boot but it would not hurt anything, i would do it in another computer though.
Your mobo will probably beep loudly to complain that it can't find the CPU. It won't harm anything permanently.

hi tonight i changed over my tower case which i have done twice before! This time tho i turn on the computer and everything insides start (fans, lights etc) But My Monitor cant find a source. Even w/out a hard drive and CD/DVD drive, a PC should be able to beep once (OK beep), display POST (text on black background) and open BIOS menu when you press Del or F1.

If RAM or graphics card has a problem, you usually get the multiple beeps.

Be sure the 4-pin 12V ATX connector (yellow and black wires) is properly connected. Also try a CMOS reset. Pc case fan?

i have only 1 case fan at the back and i want to know if it has to blow air into the computer or does it blow air out.

at the mo it is blowing out air from the back of the computer but it ant keeping every thing cool and it is on like 2500rpm

is it the rong way for is it rightPc case fan?
That is the power supply fan and yes, it is supposed to blow air out, keeping your PSU cool....Pc case fan?
    sounds ok to me
Generally fans in the back of the case blow out and fans in the front blow in. This is to help with air flow inside the case where components are heating up. You can add more fans, use thermal paste on your CPU, get some heatsinks for your RAM and/or CPU, or some other options to help regulate the temperature in the computer case - there's even liquid cool systems now that work like a car's radiator, pumping cool liquid through pipes. The more you add to the case (hard drive, optical drives, expansion cards), generally the hotter your PC runs because it has more heat producing parts added and most likely additional cables that restrict air flow.
its the right way if its not keeping the CPU cool enough just buy more fans. also make sure your computer is in a well ventilate spot
well since you only have one case fan it generally blows out as an exhaust fan. you could be feeling the powersupply fan blowing out as well. it all depends on the computer to. if you are worried about cooling issues get another one and put it in the case most mother boards have additional plugs on the mobo for extra fans. If not some powersupply have additional power connectors and you can connect fans that way. or you can buy an exhaust fan that takes up pci slot. i will provide a link for cooling fans. here is one that directly utilizes one pci slot. http://www.compusa.com/applications/Sear鈥?/a>
it sound like your psu fan to me it's supposed to blow air out but it only keeps the psu cool you can fit another fan in to the case if you wish which will keep the computer cooler they're easy to fit and you can run the power lead to the hard drive or cd/dvd drive as a special lead is supplied the cost of a new fan is only about 拢7 to 拢10
Take a can of spray-air to all the intricates of the inside to get rid of the dust, including the fans themselves. Re-seal your processor with conductive gel. Oh and don't open the power supply unit for about a week, unless you're ok about working with hundreds of volts of instant electric discharge. You might also want to check your BIOS isn't set to auto-shut-down after a certain temperature. By the way, unless your pc is up-to-grade for playing games, they'res no point in over-loading it with a high-spec graphics card - you'll just melt it silly.
You need more fans. you have a good current fan setup but you need just as many fans sucking outside air in as you do out. In a 3 rail case, you should have a spot to put a fan by your hard drives. that should suck in. Thats your problem.

Pc case cable question (2 pin female)?

Hello! Well i have decided to get a new graphics card and give my whole pc a bit of an over hall! .. Well theres one problem i cant over come. My case has a blue LED at the front of it (just to highlight the case logo) It leads from the bulbs to a female 2 pin connection. Now it used to connected to a male 2 pin then to a 2 pin Molex connector (hope your able to follow this :/ ) The only problem is when i was changing the molex connector covers for UV ones It some how 'did' something and wouldnt work any mroe once i connected it all up. Anyway, I cant find a 2 pin (too) a male molex connector anywhere on the net. All i can find is a 3 pin to a molex. I have a spare 3 pin to a molex and it fits into the female 2 pin (with one pin left over) :/ Will this work just the same? (ill put electrical tape around the spare Pin Ofc) Or is there anywhere on the net that sells them?:( thanks for your help :) Adam.Pc case cable question (2 pin female)?

Of course it will all fit. Its a big ATX case.

You are paying too much for the case . I wouldn't go over $30 for that kind of quality. Sure it looks cool - to some. But you might get a lot better value with one of the budget Cool Masters, and have more skin left when you finish building.

Won't cost you more than a few bucks to go to 500GB on the HD. try Hitachi (the old IBM Deskstar).

Watch out for the power consumption/stability when you get a PSU. If anything should be bugging you ti's the PSU.The 260 vid card sucks a lot of amps when running flat out in 3D. The Radeon 4870 is a good alternative and runs cooler. If you play Crysis a lot though then stick with the 260.

Yes. That case will accept an ATX motherboard (which is what size the motherboard will be to have 4 PCIe slots).PC case help .?
No, you won't be able to fit 4 5870's. That is because the case has only 7 expansion slots and a 5870 takes 2 expansion slots so therefore you need 8. Secondly the 5870 is the longest video card out there at almost 11 inches (10.8 exactly) and not all mid towers are able to accommodate that. If you can find the case at a local store you should measure the distance between the expansion slots and the internal 3.5'' drive bay or maybe email nzxt about that. But my advice is that if you are willing to spend that amount of money for a tri or quad crossfire configuration you'll better invest 50 to 100$ more and get a full tower which will give more room and possibly better ventilation. Also keep in mind that tri or quad crossfire scaling is not that good.

hi tonight i changed over my tower case which i have done twice before! This time tho i turn on the computer and everything insides start (fans, lights etc) But My Monitor cant find a source. I have tryed it on my other monitor and same thing happends. I have removed RAM sticks(laving 1GB in), Video card (even tryed my Older video card), Hard drives replugged in the MB power cables removed the soundcard and the CD rom and still nothing! i should be getting the welcome screen then it should attempt to load up. is there something i may be missing?Just changed pc case Now pc turns on but nothing happends?
Even w/out a hard drive and CD/DVD drive, a PC should be able to beep once (OK beep), display POST (text on black background) and open BIOS menu when you press Del or F1.

If RAM or graphics card has a problem, you usually get the multiple beeps.

Be sure the 4-pin 12V ATX connector (yellow and black wires) is properly connected. Also try a CMOS reset. • PC CASE FAN/CPU FAN - Options?

Okay, so I'm bouncing back and forth from my car to my computer, then over to firearms. Now's a pc question.

I'm looking for a decent case fan- no, not decent- the best case fan. Though I know that's a broad opinion, which is the best, I am looking more into how much air is being pushed into or sucked out of the pc. I need only two for now, and don't care at all about sound.

All I'm looking for is a high-end set of case fans that can keep the inside of the tower cool.

Also, I am questioning the integrity of my current CPU fan. It's an air-cooled, since I'm paranoid about liquid cooling- that and no space in the case for that kind of rig.

The cooler I'm using right now is a Zalman ZF9225ATH cooler, which, many people suggest, is one of the better choices - however, though the fan is moving very fast indeed, I think it's going out- can't feel much air at all.. is there a better cooler out there?PC CASE FAN/CPU FAN - Options?
    Try these:

    http://www.xoxide.com/aerocool-120mm-tur鈥?/a>

    Pc case/fans conflict question?

bought a new pc recently, and one of teh options was advanced cpu cooling, brill i thought..i'll have that. thing is the pc only came with one fan which is attached to this advanced cpu cooler and is installed as such that it blows air out the back of the pc case (where a grid for a 120mm fan to be installed is) which is good thinking since as the heat rises up the thermal cooler the fan then blows it out the back through a convinient hole

My question is if i install a 120mm fan at the back of the pc ensuring it's extracting air, will it conflict with the air flow the 80mm fan is creating attached to the cpu cooler?

heres a link of the case i have just incase

    http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/index.php?鈥?/a>

note, the fans would be about 20cm apart if installed, if that makes any difference

thanks in advancePc case/fans conflict question?
no that would help...also, i see fins/holes at the front of the case by the drive bay...is there a mount for an intake fan there? If so, then putting an intake by the drives will help cool them and complete the system.Pc case/fans conflict question?
no it shouldn't. I have 4 fans in my pc and it helps stay cooler. especially in none a/c environment during the summer

    Cooling solution PC case?

I recently bought a new PC. It's a nice small and powerful PC Phenom 2 550BE - XFX 4870 - 4gb RAM. However, heat is something of an issue. Under load the 4870 hits 87C (though I think this is a lot to do with the crappy non-exhaust cooler XFX put on it). My CPU hits 55C under load with the side of the case on - but only hits 32C under full load with the side of the case off. I don't want to run the PC with the side of the case off but would like it to run quiter and cooler - what should I do?

Note - I have tried fitting a 80mm case fan at the bottom at the front, however it doesn't quite fit - its a very small case.

    - I would be open to suggestions of modding the case - however I do not have any power tools!

    - The 4870 temp doesn't drop when I take the side panel off.Cooling solution PC case?
Yeah, most computers come with crappy heat sinks and fans. The best way is to look online and replace that heat sink and fan for that CPU. There are many types of cooling systems out there, you could even find a liquid cooling system at a reasonable price. Try looking online at www.geeks.com . This is a site to find PC parts. They will ship it to you in reasonable time.

PC Case Airflow - minor modding already?

Okay, new question about airflow with my pc case...

I placed a wire mesh on the removable side panel to allow more efficient airflow, which many people tell me can be a safer idea, as long as I keep constant air movement going. Obviously lol

    Now for my question:

What would be an ideal setup for fan placement? I have one HDD bay fan that would be placed at the very front of the tower, but I don't have the actual HDD right in front of the fan, actually above and it runs cooler, so I'm willing to cut the other bays out to allow the air to move through. However, I'm not too sure if it would make sense to have both a front and rear fan blowing air into the tower...

Although all that air would ultimately blow out the side of the pc like an exhaust system, in a way.

I've pretty much expended all of my brain power, trying to figure out ways to position fans to maximize heat dissipation, but need one unified idea.PC Case Airflow - minor modding already?
The ideal is that you want air blowing through the computer and over hot running components such as video cards.

Having fans both front and rear blowing in is usually not a good idea, it may be a better idea to have the rear fan blowing as an exhaust and mount a fan blowing inwards onto the mesh panel so it blows over the video card or over any secluded expansion card that would other wise get poor airflow.

Often these fans don't have to be that fast, so you can get away with quite quiet ones, just so long as they get the air moving (you don't really want to build up either positive or negative air pressure, just movement).

    PC case and motherboards.?

My little HP case is getting very annoying. It's not that little really, just terribly put together.

I was wondering if mobos had anything in terms of consistency. I was thinking about this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as鈥?/a> And I was wondering if an HP mobo is different than any other. I heard dell mobos are different so I was just wondering.PC case and motherboards.?
I'm assuming your wanting to transfer the internals of your HP computer into one of those antec cases (Which are very nice cases btw)

It SHOULD work fine as long as the motherboard is of a common form fit design (ATX, MicroATX, Mini-ATX, etc.) The first thing you should do is figure out what kind of motherboard is in your computer and then figure out which design it is, Then find a case on newegg that has compatibility with that design.

One problem could be that maybe HP has their own custom motherboard designs (I know thats how it is with a lot of dells) in which case you might not be able to fit the motherboard into a new case.

Doug is right about wiring problems and clearance issues (although the antec cases have plenty of space) I would suggest opening up your HP and checking the length of the wires and anything you think might cause a clearance issues... then decide for yourself if it looks like it could be swapped into a new case.PC case and motherboards.?
Proprietary machines (like Dell and HP) use proprietary motherboards. Literally every PC is different. We get the same model of PC, same model number, similar stats etc.. and the parts are night and day. Seemingly built by the lowest bidder.

HP is much worse due to the fact they even create proprietary processors! For example: Instead of Intel, they will use an HP Intel.

My point is, even HP would have a hard time answering that question. I would assume the motherboard is ATX (so it should fit, or be close to fitting), but the power supply wires may be to short, could be clearance issues, it could not line up properly, etc... You are entering uncharted territory.

If you did upgrade your pc, it may be better to leave off the front of your case so you can use that other fan, The air should blow in the front and out the power supply. If you think you have a overheating issue,

Check newegg customer reviews - they are usually really helpful. They'll let you know how well toolless connectors work on your PCI cards and drives.

Also, *I* would get a case with a chassis air guide (newegg calls it a side air duct). This is a hole + tube in the side that helps cool the CPU by bringing outside air *directly* to the CPU. None of your cases have this (but if you're using some type of CPU cooling ';tower';, you probably don't need it.)

    Pc case fan help 2?

i habe 4 spot in my case for fans 2 at the back 1 on the side and 1 a the front how should i put the fans blowing in or out?Pc case fan help 2?
ur fan should blowing in as it can cool down da air in ur casingPc case fan help 2?
The air should come in through the front of the pc and out through the power supply.
The object is to suck in cooler air and force out the hotter air. Typically the front sucks the rear blows.
Well if can use 120mm fans one blowing in and blowing out see brings the cool air in and out circleing the air flow so nothing gets overheated :)
they should blow out to remove the heat from the case.

    Best Mid-tower PC Case?

Hi I need to know the best affordable mid tower gaming case I have been looking at the Antec 900 and the Cooler Master HAF 922 any recomendations?Best Mid-tower PC Case?
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129058Best Mid-tower PC Case?
If your deciding to get a good video card and overclocking ability then go for the Cooler master 690.

The problem about the 922 is that there are no dust filters atall. But in 690 it dust filters for the fans and the 5.25 bays.

Plus it is designed so that it fits the biggest air cooler for overclocking and the biggest video card
I built a cube for my gamer, small compact and kools well. but just in case you want something eles nice check out lian li cases. there are quality and kool look. http://www.xoxide.com/lianli2.html
The Antec 900 is one of the most popular pc cases. It is often recommended..I recommend Antec 900.
It really depends on what you like what what you need if i were to get a new case i would go with the HAF 922 :P

  • Which drive for pc case?

i have come up with the following spec:

    MSI 975X Platinum

    INTEL CORE 2 DUO E6600 2.4GHz

    1 GB RAM

    SAMSUNG HD SERIAL 500GB

    LITEON cd rom

Windows XP Home Service Pack 2

    Thermaltake Tsunami case

HIPER 350 WATT 18db Silent PSU ATX

    Internal 12 in 1 Flashmedia reader/writer

i have 3 empty slots in the front of the pc case. what other drive can i use to fill up the slots.Which drive for pc case?
    Nice specs you got there.

Yes, A DVD Writer would might come in handy. Try a sony 8GB (Dual Layer) DVD writer. I have one here and its really durable and its very convenient for me since I'm fond of downloading stuffs like movies, songs, and some docs.

You've not mentioned a hard drive on your spec. Well.. assuming that you've already got one (maybe an 80GB tank). A 250GB HD tank would also be convenient (if you're in for a large collection of music and movies. This way, you'll spare your CD/DVD drive from too much use. I suggest dont go beyond 250GB HD. Its a big disk space already. If you're still not contented.. well buy another 250GB tank.

HINT: When one 250GB HD bogged down, You still have your spare HD working.

If ever you dont need to much of the stuff mentioned above, you might also wanted to use your spare slots as an extra exhaust. This might help your system to be cooler at runtime. All you have to do is to buy a front panel cooling system from your PC hobbyist shop and install them on your front slots.

Actually, you dont have to be bothered by those extra spaces on your CPU because (in my personal opinion) it is better to run with less peripherals. This way you'll find your PC running in less electric consumpiton and cooler temp.

'Hope this might help.Which drive for pc case?
If you have to ..then preferably use two drives from two different manufacturers like ...LG and Samsung for example
I have to ask, what is this PC for?

I don't see a graphics card listed and if you're not gaming the e6600 is major overkill.

Also, with the incredibly cheap prices of RAM, why not go for 2gb? You can get a 2gb kit of Geil performance RAM from newegg for like $75.

I would go with a Pioneer 112d DVD burner.

A small 80gb hard drive (for XP and programs) paired with a 320gb hard drive would give you much better performance than a single 500gb. You could also put the Windows pagefile on the 320gb storage drive for much better performance.

Better yet, tell me your buget and what you want the PC to do and I'll make a good parts list from newegg.com
    lite on CD rom
you have only choosen a cd rom I would put a couple of dvdrw's in.

VX9 Pro seems to offer the best cooling options. It appears to be the best value for money.

Xaser V is light but expensive and uses noisier small fans.

Only consider the V3 if you are on a tight budget and if you have 2 or more spare 120mm fans lying around.

    Change a PC case??

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLis鈥?/a>

    Best online seller is newegg.com.

I don't see any HTPC cases that support uATX motherboards.

The best for HTPCs are microATX boards, they're small and they use less power.

Also, the Pentium D is the...worst dual-core out there. It runs hotter than all the others while it has less performance, and of course heat is not good in a HTPC case.

Are you sure it uses an Ultra ATX motherboard?

Wait, I just re-read your post, 9.6x9.6 is MICRO ATX. So any of the cases on newegg will work. Aluminum is best, as it dissapates heat the quickest. You also want to buy some more ';premium'; ball bearing fans for the case, they make less noise with improved reliability and cooling.

I'm sure 1.5gb of RAM is enough, though 2gb kits are dirt cheap right now:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLis鈥?/a>

2 sticks will allow you to run in dual-channel mode, while 800mhz RAM will match the front side bus (FSB) of your CPU (compared to the cheap ram that came with it).Change a PC case??

here check the cases! they are all awesome. and you can fit your mainboard in them.
Yes you can change the case easy. It will fit inside any MicroATX or regular ATX case. Just look around... see what you like, if it's ATX or Micro ATX it should do just fine.

You will need BTX compatible case, as the 5150C has pic-BTX motherboard.

A BTX specification case evidently will not accommodate the 8600GT, so you may need a case which meets both BTX and ATX specifications - so that's cheap pretty much ruled out.

I got a PSU with 2 12 volt rails for extra fans THAT ARE NOT SUPORTED BY MY MOTHER BOARD (boards usually support 2-3 fans size is up to you I took out the standard 90 mm fans and put in 2 120 mm fan) third fan is the 20mm fan that came with board to be placed on the north bridge; I could scrap that an add another 120 mm and the board would support it. Other words the mother board has to specify the number of fans unless you get a special power supply. Is this pc case any good?
The case is fine but see if there is an option with no psu. It will be low quality and will burn out, better off buying a good brand seperately.

    Painting My PC Case?

I have a pc thats a couple of years old and want to upgrade it to make it last for maybe another year or two i have replaced some parts but the case is getting dirty and looking bit down but its a nice shape the case is metal and the front panel is plastic but the front panels has different removiable panels i wish to paint whats the best way to paint the plastic part?Painting My PC Case?
There is a few things to do here. For the metal parts clean them up from dirt and grime. Then lightly sand them with a 220 grit sandpaper. Prime metal parts with a spray can of primer....let dry. Spray finish coats with 2 or 3 light coats....2 or 3 coats are better than 1 heavy coat. For the plastic parts they have a different primer for that and it is recommended because it is made to stick to plastic. Don't sand plastic parts just clean....prime then paint. Keep in mind....it might be more cost effective to just go buy a new case....they are not that expensive. Witch ever way you go....Good LuckPainting My PC Case?
remove it completely and spray paint it with a decent quality spray paint! make sure you do it in a ventilated area!
Tape it of and use a spray can.You can get a can extra for plastic.
    Use automotive spray paint cans.

Thermaltake, Antec, and Coolermaster are the top manufacturers. PSU should swap. Your cooling problem (';to overheat a lot';) gives me cause to suspect a different problem.

    Really awsome PC case?

Theres this girl I know from school that showed us video of her PC and its case. It was a fairly large case with liquid cooling and by fairly large I mean it had 4 or so hard drives a dual or quad video card setup at least 2 CD/DVD drives and it was loaded with lots of other stuff as well. Now the case was larger then any other full tower case I have ever seen. The total cost of her PC was over $6000. I went searching the net and I have not come across any case any ware near the size of hers.

It was a tower like case but had a weird shape. Now when I say 4 hard drives and 2 CD/DVD drives there was probably enough room for 5-6 more hard drives or so.

I am looking for awesome cases and I cannot contact this girl so I cannot ask her. I do not care if you find me the exact case just please give me a link to abnormal cases ones that are fair more better then the average gaming case. I remember her telling me she order the case online for $900+Really awsome PC case?
My PC case is a Maxdy Viper Gaming Case ... It looks pretty cool, a bit on the heavy side though.

Try this site! Directron.com I like their clear case's with cold cathode tubes in them, but they've got sum gamer cases that kick a. I go with the theory of having a Western Digital 10,000 rpm, or 15,000 rpm Raptor harddrive for the ultimate gamer HD. The tetrabyte ones are for storage, not gamin'! I would recommend any thermaltake case.

They are quiet heavy even with nothing in them but they are built very well and to a very good standard. they have plenty of room in them for parts and come with either plenty of fans or water cooling. can be a bit pricey but defiantly worth the extra pennies.

  • Can pc case corrode?

Any metal can corrode (except mercury!). :)

Most likely your PC casing is made of metal (with plastic bits on top for decor). Under normal conditions it will most likely not corrode - and probably last you atleast a decade.

But if you live near the seaside - the sea air will corrode it quite fast - in a few months you can see signs of rust forming.

Larger PC case = Less noise??

I feel annoyed with the noise from my PC when I were studying

will large PC(I mean full tower case) case like iCute super18, Gigabyte 570 will produce less noise than middle tower case??

thanks for the help!!Larger PC case = Less noise??
Firstly, you need efficient CPU cooler. alot of noise comes from stock CPU cooler

3rd party coolers are more efficient because they comes in large heatsink with heatpipes that transfer heats around the heatsink in an efficient manner. When your heatsink is large, your fan don't need to turn as fast, and that's one of the selling point of these expensive 3rd party cooler. They are quiet

Of course you need a large case for large size cooler

Furthermore, large casing, may have larger fans holes, those 12cm fans

But being large alone is not enough, you need to get those silent type of fan. Silent fans runs slower, but since they are large fans, its ok, you will get sufficient airflow.

So, its expensive to build a silent system, and they goes hand in hand. You need a large case, but large case alone is not enoughLarger PC case = Less noise??
it all depends on the size of the fans, but generally a larger fan (120mm and up) will be much quieter than a smaller fan like an 80mm or smaller. My advice would be to go with an enermax uber chakra. it has a 250mm side fan that spins as fast as an 80mm, but it sounds more like a woosh then a high-pitched whine. and it'll anything you throw at it. BUT I ONLY ADVISE DOING THIS IF YOU BUILT THE COMPUTER YOURSELF OR KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING. I MEAN KNOW HOW TO REMOVE A KMOTHERBOARD, SET UP A BIOS, AND BUILD AND WIRE A COMPUTER. AND IF THIS IS A BRAND NAME COMPUTER LIKE A DELL, HP OR TOSHIBA, OR A LAPTOP, THEN DONT DO IT.
Depending on the material it is made out of will result in noise reduction as well as your cooling system. Liquid cooling provides a near silent environment. Then you have fans, which can be quiet if you get a little more high quality ones, this doesn't mean u need to splurge on like $20-30 fans or something, just better quality.
The main items that determine noise in a case are number of fans, drive noise, number of ventilation holes and the *material* the case is made of. If you are really wanting to reduce noise you would be better served dropping some of the fans for a liquid cooling system. The cost does not have to be significant.

    Look something like this:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as鈥?/a>
Maybe, but not enough to justify buying a new case.

You would be better off figuring out what is causing most of the noise and then remedying that.

In other words, maybe you have a fan with bad bearings, or maybe your hard drive is failing...

If you don't have a dust grill on that fan, I would really turn it around and run it as an exhaust fan, you can probably by a dust grill for it, but I wouldn't waste my time. On the fan itself there should be arrows pointing which way it will be moving air.

    Have a nice day

Ken (pc cooling) i added a case fan to the right side of my hp tower should it blow air in or out?
In addition to the first responder's post, I would do out b/c a pc generates a lot of heat (usually 70-80 on average, some rigs run hotter depending on components) and you want the fan to draw out all this hot air so it does not fry your components b/c they get too hot.

I have changed my pc case and the front panel conectors are diferent i do nt no where they go help?

Okay.. I do this all the time (build computers) so you need to find out what cables you have coming from the case. Then you need to consult your mobo's manual which WILL tell you where to plug each specific connector in. (all the plugs should say on them what they represent)

If you would like for me to talk you through this as apposed to checking your book etc, they you can e-mail me on Mikeo_2121@Yahoo.co.uk with your motherboard make and model. I can talk you through it from start to end!

Regards, mike =)I have changed my pc case and the front panel conectors are diferent i do nt no where they go help?
You will have to check the documentation that came with the case and compare it with the motherboard manual. The motherboard manual will explain the connectors and which polarity is which connector then all you have to do is plug them in. Note that if you mess up the power LED and HDD LED connectors there is no harm done just switch them around. One you don't want to mess up is the power connector. Also, if you have USB front panel connectors MAKE SURE you get the polarity right or else you could damage the connectors, any device connected to it and there is a slight chance of damaging the motherboard.I have changed my pc case and the front panel conectors are diferent i do nt no where they go help?
use the original manual of your motherboard to find the connectors of front panel(usb and sound) and connect the wires from your new pc case to your motherboard.
how can I help. I dont know what the mother board is or what case you have.

  • Pc case COOLER MASTER Stacker 830?

i was thinking about getting the stacker 830 and just wondering if anybody had one and what their experience has been. link to it .....http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119103Pc case COOLER MASTER Stacker 830?
I haven't tried that one. But I DO like the Antec 900. The cooling design is superior, and the huge fans are almost silent.

Do you think this is a good pc case?

its pretty typical for a computer case, but its suitable for almost any PC buildDo you think this is a good pc case?
It looks fairly nice from the one picture that they show. However, with the large vent holes at the front with the fan right behind them, the case might be noisy. The site does not give any pictures of the inside of the case. One cannot tell if it is made of a high quality metal with out sharp edges, or if it is made of extremely thin and flimsy metal with jagged edges throughout the interior. One cannot tell if the drives are held in place with screws or if the case has a mechanism to ';snap'; the drives into position. It looks nice on the outside, but I do not know anything about the functionality of the inside. I do like the LCD though.

    PC Case change help?

I have an HP a6152n, mid-tower case. If I purchased this case (http://tinyurl.com/39gsd9), would I be able to gut this case and place the parts into that one?PC Case change help?
Probably. Main thing to look for is if the motherboard has any proprietory connections such as special ribbon cables that run to the front to work the on/off reset buttons USB etc. A customer of mine brought in a Dell once that got busted up while moving and I had to actually use a different motherboard for the new case because the Dell board would only work with a Dell case. Dell wouldn't sell me or my customer a new case because it was out of warranty. Dells solution was ';buy a new computer';. Good old Dell support. LOL.PC Case change help?
Yes. I've done it many times with new cases.
I can't properly answer the question but I can give you some advice.

Every HP system I've ever encountered has been proprietary. This means, the motherboard and other parts were specifically designed for the case and couldn't be moved to anything but that exact case.

I would check and make absolutely sure it can be done before purchasing anything. It'd be a shame to spend the money just to find out it won't work.
    Maybe.

Unless I am wrong your current case opens on the right side.

The new case opens on the left side.

you will have to flip the motherboard 180 degrees

The biggest issue I can see is the I/O cover -i.e the holes for the usb, mouse, keyboard, ethernet etc lining up.

You will also void whatever HP warranty you may have.
I don't see why not. Just make sure your mobo is atx.

    Pc case...any advice?

    hi guys

sorry for the last question,i deleted it by accident, anyway i have just finished transfering hardware to this new case(http://www.flickr.com/photos/68637591@N0鈥?/a>

i have allready added 4 x 80mm fans and 2 x cold cathod tubes, however any advice on any other mods or shall i leave it as it is

    cheers guys !Pc case...any advice?
well to me this case looks wicked.

I would leave it how it is because if ya go adding neon lights or that i tends to mess up the light looks and if you do want to get some neon lights go on ebay and type in case fans or somrthing and it would come up with lots of neon and normal case fans which r like 拢3 total and they r good looking. i brought a green back of case fan and it has a speed controller on the back of the case and i can change the speed of the fan. Good luck but i recommend leaving it ask it is. GOOD LUCK M8Pc case...any advice?
Looks pretty good you should check out lit up psu if you want to add a final touch =]

    Also hardware tip

    Dump the p4
Looks aren't as important as making sure the case is actually functional. making sure the temperature do not get high and that it has plenty of air flow is my main concerns with a case. So, wiring is the most important if the case has good air flow. making sure wires are out of the air flow using cables that are rounded(if using any IDE drives that is). If it is a new case and fairly new components I assume it is using SATA drives. So air flow should be OK as long as they are tied up out of the way.
Id leave it at that , its very reto , looking , the other ones are very good too
id leave it has it is doesn't matter how it really looks but looks good it depends if your computer is good by the specs it looks like a good computer

If you are into BLING you may wanna check out Tracer Ram from crucial memory. Snazzy !!!

You might wanna look at an aftermarket CPU cooler. Some are pretty fancy to look at while others are more efficient at cooling you processor. You'd be suprised how much more heat those cold cathode lights will add to your tower.

    Pc case mode, lights....?

what is the ';strip of light'; called where its stuck to the components inside the pc, its flourescent and goes around the

    MB, graphics card etc....

if you look on this vide, its the red wires ( around 0:20)

    http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=wTcuNocGkuEPc case mode, lights....?
I think that is floresent paint around the edge, but it could be Cathode Lights.

    PC Case HELP-MidTower referral please...?

Hello. I'm looking for someone to recommend an air-cooled Mid-Tower PC case as I'm looking to Build my own PC. Was looking at Thermaltake models (Soprano and Armor mid towers) and have seen Antec mid-tower models as well. My primary concern is airflow and cooling as well as tool-less installation of PC components.

Can anyone point me in the right direction please? Specific makes and models would be a big help.

    Thank you in advance.

Joe E.PC Case HELP-MidTower referral please...?
When I built my computer...I looked at Antec 900, Thermaltake Armor+ and Coolermaster Cosmos.

Antec 900, smallest of the three, light and black. Massive 200mm on the top. 4x120mm.

Thermaltake tooless, removable motherboard..not as much airflow, but awesome at cable management.

Coolermaster, you can pretty load a lot of fans on it...but it's going to be loud and heavy in weight. Most expensive of three. Tooless also.

Out of the three, I chose the 900, it was great for air cooling. It was the cheapest and these other two case wasn't available at the time I want to buy it. Has to be special order.

In hindsight though I should have pick the Cosmos, now that I went watercooling. It's pretty tight in there with all the tubes going and cable.PC Case HELP-MidTower referral please...?
The thermaltake's are good cases as well as the Antec cases. For the best performance in an air cooled system I would go with the Performance one series from Antec.

    http://www.antec.com/us/pro_en_performan鈥?/a>

These are great cases and have the best performance from any air cooled cases that I've seen. They are a little pricey however and you will have to buy a power supply seperately as most don't come with one. Check them out.

    Good Luck HTH.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=wTcuNocGkuE%26amp;feature=relatedPc Case Lighting need some help?
All those are is led lights and a led fan for cooling and you can get most of it at at any big computer store like Fry's or Compusa. It is very easy to install this stuff all the lights simply plug into and one on the power cords in your PC just arrange and your done.

They are just LEDs and LED fans, most of them you can buy at www.newegg.com

How to pick the right size (mm) case fan for my PC?

    Hi!

I want to replace my case fans and don't know what size should I pick . Is the default fan size 120 mm? I'm looking on tigerdirect.com , they have 60,80,92 mm fans as well. In my MB manual I could not find the fan sizes supported.

Thank you for help! How to pick the right size (mm) case fan for my PC?
Check with your case manufacturer and look on their website if you can find anything about the size of the fans pre installed and the upgrade possibilities, you should find something. If not you can physically measure the size of the places where you want fans to be, most fans are 120mm, but 140mm exists, indeed 92, 80, 60, also 100mm. So check carefully. THe motherboard has nothing to do with the size of fans, the motherboard does not relate to fans in any fan except maybe the processor fan. Check the case manual and the website!

Good luck! How to pick the right size (mm) case fan for my PC?
Here is a bit of advice: without even taking the fan out of any case, measure the screw holes from one another. That will give you the distance/size needed for your install. Something else to be really sure, what I would do is make a card broad template (any stiff paper will do) of the screw holes. Then take the template to where ever the store is you are going to get the fans and measure the screw holes there with the template, that should get the right size fans.
